Override TV Launcher Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Summary

Override TV Launcher, made by Metal Flower Studio, does not collect, store, or share any personal information. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of its own. Everything you set up stays on your TV, and the only things the app sends over the internet are the requests its widgets make to the public services that provide weather, scores, news, and similar information, as described below.

This policy applies to the Override TV Launcher app for Android TV and Google TV.

What stays on your TV

Everything the app remembers is kept in its own private storage on the TV, where other apps cannot read it. It is deleted when you uninstall the app.

The app does not read what you watch, what you search for, or what you do in other apps. The Now Playing widget shows the title of media playing on the TV, using the standard Android media session and the playing app's own notification, and it keeps none of it.

Information sent to other services

Widgets fetch what they show directly from public services. Each request contains only what that service needs to answer, and, like every internet request, it reveals your TV's IP address to that service. Metal Flower Studio never sees these requests. A widget only contacts its service once you add it to Home.

ServiceUsed forWhat the request contains

Some widgets fetch from addresses you enter yourself: a calendar's ICS link, a photo link, or the services on your home network that the Services widget checks. Those requests go only where you point them.

Each service has its own privacy policy, which applies to the requests the app makes to it.

Permissions and system access

The app asks for access only for the feature that needs it, and every one of these can be left off.

AccessFeatureWhat it does and does not do
Internet and network stateWidgetsFetches from the services above, and waits instead of retrying when the TV is offline
List of installed appsApp rows and All appsShows your TV apps so you can open them. The list is never sent anywhere
Display over other appsScore alerts, timers, and remindersShows a small notice while another app is on screen, only for alerts you turned on
Run in the backgroundScore alerts, timers, and remindersKeeps watching for them while another app is on screen
Notification accessNow Playing widgetReads the playing app's media notification for its title when the app leaves it out of its media session. No other notification is read
Accessibility serviceHome buttonGoogle TV does not let another app be the Home app, so this service notices when the stock home screen opens and opens Override instead. It passes every other button straight through, reads nothing on your screen, and collects nothing
BluetoothQuick controlsShows which headphones and speakers are connected. Asked for when you first open Quick controls
Uninstall appsAn app's menuOpens the TV's own uninstall prompt; the TV asks you to confirm
ScreensaverOverride's screensaverOnly if you pick it as the TV's screensaver in the TV's settings

None of these permissions is used to collect information about you.

Editing from your phone

When you turn on "Edit from your phone" in Settings, the TV runs a small web page on your home network, protected by a code shown on the TV screen. Your phone talks to the TV directly; nothing goes through the internet or through us. The page stops when you turn it off or after it has been idle for a while. Photos you send to the Photo Frame widget this way are stored on the TV only.

Feedback

Sending feedback opens an email on your phone, addressed to us, with the app version, TV model, theme, and UI size filled in. You can include the last crash record or leave it out, and you can edit or delete anything before sending. We use what you send only to look into the problem or suggestion, and we do not share it.

Children

The app is a home screen for a TV and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts handling information differently, this policy will be updated first, and the app's About page will point to the new version. The date at the top shows when the policy last changed.
